Several days after Handarty Korea in Seoul, I continued my journey to Japan with two Korean book-artist friends from Chaekjitgi: Dollbook & Ohin Heart, participating in Design Festa Summer. It's my second time in Design Festa (the first one was four years ago - here's the blog).
We arrived very early to set up our booths.. And with me having sore throat was definitely not a good start.. 😭 (see what's wrapped around my neck? 🤣) But still, very WOW to see variety of Japanese crafts that never seen before at Design Festa!
2 days of Design Festa Summer was definitely not enough! However, we wrapped up this event full of gratitude to our neighbors although we speak no Japanese 🤣 It was so fun! お疲れ様でした!
A year has passed, and again, here I was at COEX for Handarty Korea. (read my last year post: "Meet The World Through Handmade Korea")
It's the 4th year I join Handarty (was named Handmade Korea). Always looking way to improve, every year I want to do better than the year before. So I planned out booth decor and all details nearly two months before to make sure every arrangement fall into places.
I really appreciate my Korean friends who came over to see me every year. It feels like a yearly reunion with you all~ ❤ 모두 너무 감사해요~ 🙏😘
There are 23 countries participating in Handarty Korea this year in International Pavilion, including Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, USA, France, Russia, Nepal, India, and of course, Indonesia! 😁 Moreover, there are sewing design, Korea quilts, workshop zone, etc etc.. Other than that, Handarty and translator team helped us to arrange business matching meeting with local retailers and buyers.
4 days of Handarty Korea 2019 has now over.. Thank you everyone for lending your helping hands in any way including translator team who keep wandering around International Pavillion to see if we need any help, my neighbour Spruce Artistry who took most of my photos and sharing insights, Meg of Nutmeg Fibers - I'm gonna miss your jokes 😆, my part time helpers in dismantling my booth Lucia, Hoyun & SangHun ㅋ.
이수내 이사님, 이대복 대표님, and Effy Jimin 머두 수고했어요~ 🙏
Above all. this is my favorite sentence that I heard from customers who came by our booth: "예쁜것이 왜 그렇게 많아?"
Which means: "Why there are so many beautiful things?" ❤❤❤
Stay close to people who feel like sunlight, and they're my sunlight ☀️☀️☀️ Love y'all! ❤
✔ 퇴근! ㅋ 😁
And then next... our journey continued to Design Festa Summer at Tokyo, Japan ✈️
This year we turn 7!! Wheee!! Happy Birthday Tree Craft Diary! 🎂
I still had a day job as product designer in Singapore when I decided to give it a try, establishing a brand. After work, I had around 2 hours at night to work on this biz every weekday, and when the weekend comes, I excited to wake up early taking photo on the pieces I made during the week and then listed them online. After three months, I finally got my first sale on Etsy. Coming to the fifth month, I received an interview invitation from GoGirl! Indonesia magazine that they wanted to feature my story and article on October issue on that particular year. Around six months after TCD was set, I moved back to Jakarta pursuing my passion in handcrafting jewelry full time. That was in 2012.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to grow, foster, and build the idea that was a mere thought. Without you, it would have remained just an imagination.
In deep gratitude,
I've been making this two meters long stone garland for several weeks and now it is finally finished! 🎉🎉🎉
I choose mint Amazonite, semi-opaque white Agate, green Peridot chips, orange oyster Shell, Rose Quartz, Strawberry Quartz, Sandstone, red Coral, Ocean Jasper, Queen Conch and some more charms embellishment to build up this one kilo weight gems garland.

This is a mix media art of acrylic color as the background, metallic silver flakes as embellishment, colorful druzy crystal stones from Indonesia as the balloons, and computer modeled resin base 3d printed house.
Positively lift your spirit and be inspired! Do not let your dreams always be dreams...
Really honored to be a part of 열두달 12DAL - ‘쉬는 날‘ [Day Off] music video recording last month at Seoul.
It was a fun day and interesting experience styling the artists, selecting necklace/bracelet that matches well with their outfits!
나율 Nayul & 예림 Yerim - A female vocal duo 열두달 12DAL (which means 'Twelve Months') released their first single album ‘일초하루’ [A Second] last August 8th, has returned with their new song, ’쉬는 날’ [Day Off]. Through their attractive voices, they show their delicate emotions whereby at the moment of their debut, they ranked No.1 on the internet hit list. It’s been a month and now they're coming back with their second single album, which is also a song that Nayul, one of the members, wrote herself.
The song ‘Day Off’ shows soulful and delicate R&B with simple piano sound. With their beautiful soothing voices, they portray the time when you're awake early in the morning, realize that you don’t have to wake up right away because it’s your day off, and so you can lay in bed the whole day. A relaxing song for busy people to find their inner peace.
I received their promotion album and they're both very humble to sign for me~ 😍
Please support them! 열두달 12DAL - 나율 Nayul & 예림 Yerim

Time flies... It's the third year I joined Handmade Korea Fair (now changed name to Handarty Korea 핸드아티코리아) and there are always, always moments to be cherished..
(read my other blogs in Handmade Korea: "IDxHKxSG" and "Together We Are One")
The leading of Korea's handicraft industry exhibition, a 4-days event which includes: paintings, craft works, hands-on experience sessions, visual arts, illustration, fashion & jewelry, raw materials and diy, took place in COEX Hall C last week from 26-29 July 2018.
As written in my previous post "Go Statement!", where I put my whole effort preparing showstopping statement pieces to be showcased for the first time, which lead to my total 40+kg of luggage, but very satisfied with the outcome! This time really thankful to Yien's and Yunhye's help, especially on the construction day. They came over to help me set up the booth, otherwise I seriously can't do it all by myself! 고마워용~❤
Very humble to say people gives positive feedback to my creations. Confidence level goes up up up! =D
My gratitude also goes to friends whom I knew years ago, came over to give their biggest support, brought me foods and drinks, some even bought my items. There's that inexplicable feeling of reuniting with other artists no matter they're local or overseas, in which we can exchange information about anything related to our biz. One of the precious relationship I made is with Luvinball sisters who make glass ball jewelry. Both of them came over to meet me, and for my surprise, not only they prepared a nice lunch and coffee, but also treated my booth as theirs, suggested how they felt could look better, helped me to sell and explained my creations to the local customers. For them it's a small gesture, but for me, it makes a big impact..
Apart from local Korean, there are the biggest Indonesia pavilion, artists from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, China, Iran, France, Spain, Nepal and many more with the total of 500 booths. How I hoped I have more time to spend here, strolling each stand... Too many great artists with superb details in their works!
Thank you very much Handarty Korea 이수내 이사님 and 이대복 대표님 for your kind support!
The next day after the event has ended, the organizer very kindly organized a special tour for overseas member. We had diy experiece class at Ssamziegil, Korean traditional food making, bojagi Korean traditional wrapping cloth session and hanbok experience with Hyojae 성생님, a traditional clothing artist (aka Korea's Martha Stewart). Thank you 핸드메이드코리아 for this fun schedule, and also very 수고했어요 Effy Jimin Jung!
For this special 10th edition of Handarty Korea, they prepared a theme song that is being played every morning and evening. Hit play!
Until next year Handarty Korea...

Hi! I’m Cindy, one woman show behind all things at Tree Craft Diary, based in Jakarta, Indonesia. It’s been a while since I introduced myself, so with the recent new followers on IG I figured now is a good time! I am self-taught in jewelry designing. My degree is Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Design. Because of my passion towards handmade and crafty things since I was young, I started this handcrafted jewelry biz 6 years ago. I source all gems and crystals and make each piece with my own two hands, take every photo, write all of the descriptions, respond to your DMs and comments, take and prepare your orders, the list goes on and on. It’s a lot for one person to do but I enjoy every bit of it!
I opened and listed my very first items on Etsy in 2012, got my first sale three months after. That afternoon was my first time dropping a package to post office to ship the order to my first customer at Michigan, United States.
*Feel free to read more about Story Before Tree Craft Diary.
Like the branches of a lush tree, inspiration never comes to end. I keep growing and designing unique style of jewelry and accessories in contemporary way. Once every few months, I hunt for intriguing findings over the world to add fresh sparks to our latest line.

On my trip to Salzburg, I went to Haus der Natur, one of the top attractions in the city. The museum presents nature at its most exciting: from fascinating underwater worlds in the aquarium to extraterrestrial experiences in the outer space hall, from colossal dinosaurs from a bygone age to a journey into the human body. Another highlight is this treasure room: magnificent precious and semi-precious stones in their natural crystal form are organized neatly on display.
Here we are at the last stop of my journey: Budapest - the capital and the most populous city of Hungary. After 10 days of traveling from Prague, Salzburg and Vienna, I decided to explore this city at a slow pace for the remaining 6 days...
Buda Castle Disctrict
I took public bus up to Castle Hill and wandered around the district on foot. Two of the must-visit tourist attractions are Matthias Church and Fisherman's Bastion, which are just side by side. There are many cafés (Starbucks as well) and restaurants to stop for some refreshment. I loved checking out some Hungarian art and design shops, and also went in the Hungarian National Gallery before going down to cross the Chain Bridge back to the Pest side.
Leaving Salzburg, I took Westbahn train to the capital city of Austria - Vienna. However, I'll do a quick recap for Vienna trip since I only have 2 short days to explore this artistic city (which I regret, should have added another day here!). Same as in the previous two cities, I bought Vienna Pass which gives us free entry to over 60 top attractions. I had a tight schedule for such limited time, so I decided to chose these places for my first time visit: Schönbrunn Palace, Belvedere, Leopold Museum, Time Travel Vienna, Sisi Museum, Albertina, House of Music, and Natural History Museum Vienna. Btw, it's getting hot in Vienna near the last week of May... ☀️
Schönbrunn Palace and its surrounding
Schönbrunn Palace was the former summer residence of the Habsburgs. To be honest, I never fond of history, but listening to the audio guide while touring through each room at the palace makes me curious about the story of Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth.
Not only the palace, there are other sightseeing around this area as well, such as: Apple Strudel Show, Imperial Carriage Museum, Children's Museum, Marionetten Theater, Maze & Labyrinth, Gloriette, Schonbrunner Gardens, Desert House, Zoo Vienna, etc, etc...
From Prague, I took a train to Salzburg and fell in love with this city from the first time I arrived the station. Salzburg is widely known as the City of Mozart & The Sound of Music, where every gift shop offers souvenirs that relate to both icons. I had two full days to feel Salzburg, and here are some hot places that I went: Mirabell Palace, Mozart's Birthplace, Mozart's Residence, Mozart Statue, DomQuartier Salzburg, Hohensalzburg Fortress, Hellbrunn Palace and Trick Fountains, Folklore Museum, Museum of Modern Art - Mönchsberg, and Museum of Nature and Technology.
Mirabell Palace & Mirabell Gardens (Schloss Mirabell & Mirabellgarten)
Mirabell Gardens is one of the most important shooting locations from the famous Hollywood musical movie “The Sound of Music”.
There is a Chinese idiom "休息是為了走更長的路" which means: "Taking a break is for accomplishing a longer journey".. 💃💃
So this year as well, I took a two-week solo holiday went to 4 beautiful cities in Europe: Prague - Salzburg - Vienna - Budapest 🛫
Let's discover my first stop: Prague - the capital and the largest city in Czech Republic. Once I arrived at the airport, I purchased a 3 Days Prague Card. It is a sightseeing pass which gives you an outstanding way to explore everything the city has to offer with free entry to major attractions. Because of jet lag, I woke up early the next morning and started exploring the city center. I hop on the free bus city tour and went up to Prague Castle.
Prague Castle and its surrounding
One of must-visit places in Prague is of course... the castle! I got my ticket which includes St. Vitus Cathedral, Old Royal Palace, St. George's Basilica, Golden Lane (my favorite!), Daliborka Tower, and a nice view overlooking Prague city. After spending the whole afternoon strolling around castle area, I walked down to Charles Bridge (Karlův most), the famous historic bridge that crosses the Vltava river in Prague. It was a pouring day, yet beautiful views on both sides the bridge are still mesmerizing!

Marking the 6th anniversary of Tree Craft Diary, we moved to a brand new studio!
I still remember when I first started Tree Craft Diary in Singapore 6 years ago, all equipment fitly stored in just one small toolbox. Six months later, I moved back to Jakarta and the table in my bedroom was my working desk. Things got so packed that a year and a half after, I moved to a shared office room and began nesting happily there, working day and night. Year after year, my inventories getting larger and clearly the space is (again) getting smaller. My working desk barely had enough space to breath... 😅
Until a month ago, after returning from material hunting which apparently a lot more new stuff coming in... I thought hey I think it's time for a larger space! Luckily there is an empty room in the house that I can use. So I planned the room layout, picked wall paint colors, went to IKEA back and forth, and with some help from my parents, Tree Craft Diary brand new studio is now ready for action! Yuhuuuuu!!!
I am pretty sure I'll get more creative and inspiration working here! XD
A part of raw stone & crystal collection from all over the world which been collected for nearly 6 years
My favorite painting illustrates Jeju forest scene by a Korean artist who lives in Jeju Island
So what do you think of Tree Craft Diary studio? =D
We'd love to see some snaps of you with our jewelry
We hope you'll post them on Instagram, tag @treecraftdiary with hashtag #StyleWithGems
We oftentimes share it on our own feed :)
P.S. Can't wait to see how you'd style them with!
🤩 I am beyond happy these days!!! So fortunate to meet Thunder 천둥 few days ago at CGV Slipi Jaya back door with Caitlin when they're promoting their latest movie: Forever Holiday in Bali. Not only shined in becoming multi-talented Korean idol as a singer, dancer and actor, Thunder is so cute and handsome, he smiles all the time! 😊😊😊 My hands were trembling when I helped him to wear my handmade bracelet as a gift.. ㅋㅋ (look at his wrist! 😆) I gave him a Scott Bracelet (Tiger’s Eye and genuine leather combination), hope you’ll like it and wear it often to bring you luck and prosperity. For her sister Sandara, I give one-of-a-kind druzy crystal necklace as a gift, let’s hope she likes it! 🎁❤️ Thank you Thunder for being a kind messenger. We wish you have a great time in Indonesia, and can’t wait for the release of your new works!
Caitlin Halderman is soooo pretty and beautiful and super nice! Really! Before entering the cinema to watch this movie the second time (yes, I've watched it twice in a week!), I reached her at the back door and handed out my gift, a special druzy crystal necklace that I prepared earlier. She's so adorable, happily accept my gift and thanking me like so many times. Thanks Cait, you made my day! 🌞 Needless to say that her acting in the movie is great and so natural. I hope you take lots of rest and get well soon though!
P.S. We’re wearing matchy clothes! Aha! 😆
It’s their last roadshow in Jakarta promoting Forever Holiday In Bali presented by Sonamu Films, the first Indonesia-Korea collaboration movie. It’s a fun love story, where scenes were taken in Bali (yes lots of beaches with cliffs, white sands, trees.. hehe) which seriously makes me want to go to Bali for holiday! Please watch our local-made movie and give your best support to the actors, actress and production team who had worked hard all this time. Making a movie apparently is not easy.
As most of my friends know, I am very enthusiastic and excited about this kind of multinational collaboration, hoping there will be many more to come! I do wish that my works can take part in such project, whether in drama, movie, or magazine. That’s my dream and yes I dare to dream! 💪
So for stylists, if you need fresh idea for accessories and jewelry, or design-related, please reach me and let’s work together! 😉
Tonight would be the first FULL MOON in 2018 🌕
Crystals have the ability absorb and hold unique energies, both positive and negative. So its important to cleanse them often and the full moon is the perfect time to do this. When we say "cleanse" in this context, it's on a energetic level, not just cleaning the dust off them. Many people believe that the full moon can clear a crystal's energy and recharge the positive energies it holds.
On the full moon, set your crystals outdoors or on a windowsill where it will be bathed in moonlight, and leave them out until morning. The moon cycle is a great regular reminder to keep your stones neat and tidy. Approximate time: 8-12 hours.
I'm sure you have lots of questions about cleansing and re-tuning your crystals with full moon energy. Why you don't check this complete guide from Crystal Guidance. Other than full moon, there are also many other ways to cleanse the crystals. Check this post to find out more, as well as the list of crystals that don't need cleansing, crystals that don't like water and sunlight.
P.S. Here's my Crystals Love Moonlight blog post recapping from Crystal Guidance.
Hello and welcome!
